Here’s my take on the 12 + episodes of K-On Season 1 by Kyoto Animation Studios.
Let me say first that this anime is surprisingly fresh and bubbly throughout episode 1 up to the last episode of this light music anime.
I do not normally like watching slice-of-life anime or anime that are music or arts-based, but I still tried it with K-On and it was not a waste of my limited free time.
The story is about Ritsu and Mio’s desire to be a part of a light music band in their school. When they noticed that they didn’t have enough members even after they got the heart of Tsumugi. They set their eyes on Yui a freshman who stumbled into their club room thinking that it would be fun to play the castanet, but unbeknownst to her she would run into the path of becoming their lead guitarist/vocalist.
It was a breath of fresh air for me which I needed to unwind. The story was sugar, spice, and everything nice all mashed together into every episode. I love how the overall theme of the musical band/high school life was represented.
The art was good and not too flashy which it needed. Sound and music are some of the best parts of K-On as they are all quirky and fun to watch and listen to.
Yui and the gang all stand out in their zany way and I just love Mio’s reaction to Ritsu’s pranks, Yui’s clumsy moments, and Nodoka!! Just gotta love a bespectacled character in every anime.
All in all, K-On is an easy binge-watch, and you would not regret every bit of their antics per episode.
I would give K-On 9 Gitaa out of 10. <3
